Sunny, colourful Provence, beloved land of blue skies, sparkling seas, ancient stone villages and colourful food markets! Few regions offer as many iconic images of France than Provence, and those picture postcard views are still there to be discovered – as is another Provence, the ‘Lou Provenço’ of the local people. For this land has a special identity and a soul of its own which sets it apart from the rest of France, its history etched into the faces of its people who have lived a hardy life of farming and fishing.
We want to show you both of those Provence, and with the tours we present here we offer differing itineraries that enable you to choose whichever mix is best for you, whether it’s the highlights, the local atmosphere, or a mixture of both. We can show you the Provence of the Lubéron and van Gogh, of Popes, Roman emperors and Crusader knights, but we can also show you the scarcely visited hinterland of the Var countryside and the mighty Alps of Haute Provence. We’ll take you to Avignon and Aix but also to farms of honey and lavender, to lunch with a farmer and to the hidden Abbey of Le Thoronet, to Tourtour, the ‘village in the sky’, and to the Canyon of the Verdon river. And we can also leave you to sit quietly at a café table in a small square of a medieval village, sipping a café or a pastis as you watch the world go by whilst the great sycamore tree above you shades you from the sun.
