A journey into the wild landscapes of the lower Alps, dotted with medieval villages
In a privately driven car or minivan with National French Guide Anthony Bay or another National Guide from our Team. Unique!! We guide our guests inside all the monuments and sites, unlike other companies who leave you to visit on your own.
Join the famous ‘Route Napoleon’ carved by Napoleon in 1815 that sweeps up into the Alp mountains, with high peaks rising above the road. Arrive at the farming hamlet of Caille lying under its looming Baou Roux rock face, with time to stroll and take a coffee with locals. On to the old gallo-roman village of St Auban with its famous ‘clue’ fissure in the rocks, and over the Bleine mountain peak to the lovely 19th cent hill resort of Thorenc, filled with fine mansions and quiet, leafy lanes. Continue along the deep valley of a mountain torrent to Coursegoulles, beautifully situated against a mountain side that rises abruptly above it. Here there’s a chance to sample local produce before returning to the coast over the almost lunar landscape of the Col de Vence, with views of the Italian alps in the far distance.
