Paris – Castles of the Loire Valley – WWII Landing Beaches of Normandy

This trip is for those who already know mainstream Paris but want to discover some of the city’s more hidden secrets, visit the lovely countryside that surrounds the city full of history, see the WWII Landing Beaches in Normandy and the magical Castles of the Loire Valley.

The first four nights are spent in Paris because it’s a fun place to be, with secrets to offer even the most seasoned traveler, and offers a good base from which to explore the countryside around it – the auberge in which Vincent Van Gogh died, the Castles of the Loire Valley, Claude Monet’s Giverny….Afterwards it’s off to Normandy to visit the Landing Beaches of WWII in the company of a British General who specialises in that subject, and staying in a private Castle over 1,000 years old. Visit the great tapestry of Bayeux, woven to celebrate the invasion of England in 1066, drink Calvados at a private domaine, and bicycle through the gardens of Versailles!  Price on application

  • Day 1 Paris Transfer privately to the city centre
  • Day 2 Paris Today is yours to design for yourselves, in conjunction with your guide
  • Day 3 Racehorses and van Gogh Visit a world class trainer and Auvers sur Oise where Vincent van Gogh painted and died.
  • Day 4 The Chateaux of the Loire The magical Royal Chateaux of Chenonceau, Cheverny, Chambord and Blois.
  • Day 5 Lesser Known Paris The hill of Montmartre, with its food markets, bohemian painters, Moulin Rouge and Sacré Coeur.
  • Day 6 Giverny and Normandy Impressionist painter Claude Monet’s home of Giverny, and overnight in a medieval castle.
  • Day 7 WWII Landing Beaches With a British General to Omaha beach, Pointe du Hoc and the St Laurent cemetery.
  • Day 8 Bayeux-Trianon-Paris The 1066 Bayeux tapestry and a bicycle ride through Versailles’ Trianon Palace gardens.
